Training objective: to cultivate advanced specialized talents who would be able to conduct scientific research or teaching job in scientific research institutions or institutions of higher education; who could work in the enterprises and business and administrative departments of industrial engineering, medicine, agricultural and farming, environmental protection, and landscape design, as well as engaging in applied research, technology development, production management and administration management related to biotechnology; and biotechnology advanced specialists who could conduct biotechnology, bioscience teaching, and teaching management work in institutions of higher and secondary education.

Program Features: This program is a national first-class undergraduate construction program under the "Double first-class programs" plan, which relies on the academic community of “Marine Biotechnology and Marine Engineering” discipline group constructed by national first-class universities and has first-class biology master's degrees . The Biotechnology program is directed by Chen Jianping, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, possessing well-trained faculty and staff. The program focuses on developing comprehensive research innovative talents with broad international vision, strictly-trained scientific thinking, a good foundation of Biotechnology theory, knowledge, and skills; with a solid basis of professional theory and professional skills training. It has already trained outstanding alumni who published papers on top journals including Nature and Cell.
Employment and Further Study: Graduates primarily engaged in related occupations in agency administrative departments, public institutions, and bio-pharmaceutical enterprises or started their own businesses. In the past three years, over 40% of the enrolment rate of postgraduate entrance examination has entered the Chinese Academy of Sciences or domestic well-known institutions, together with studying abroad, continuing deeper study in biology and related programs.
