Research Team on Aquatic Biological Resources and Environmental Protection
Foundation of teamwork: Academically, the team members relate to multiple research directions, including the detection of toxic and harmful substances in the environment and aquatic products, molecular ecology and environmental toxicology of aquatic animals, innate immune molecular research of aquatic animals, protozoology, animal behavior, and behavioral ecology. The team has published over 200 papers in journals such as Water Research, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Science of the Total Environment, Biomaterials, Biosensors and Bioelectronics, Analytical Chemistry, Science China Life Science, Marine Life Science &Technology, and have been granted 35 invention patents. Furthermore, the team has successively undertaken more than 40 projects, including the “Pioneer” and “Bellwethers” R&D Program of Zhejiang, the project/Youth Project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Outstanding Youth Fund of Zhejiang Province, the sub-project of the National Key Research and Development Plan, and the projects under the Spark Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Advantages and features of the team: Targeting the detection of toxic and harmful substances in the environment and aquatic products, immunology, toxicology, and behavior of aquatic animals and protozoa, the team focuses on the detection, toxicology, health risk assessment of chemical pollutants in the aquaculture environment and aquatic products, research on protozoan biological resources, and protection of aquatic fish resources. The team has established a new type of precise and efficient integrated detection technology for preprocessing and rapid detection, and constructed a source resistance control technology platform. In addition, with ciliate protozoa as the research object, based on the classic morphological taxonomy, molecular systematics, molecular ecology, and other research means, the team comprehensively explores the composition of ciliate resources in the subtropical regions of eastern China and their core role in environmental governance and restoration. The team systematically revealed the close relationship between the protection and utilization of aquatic fish resources, the environment of offshore aquaculture systems and water bodies, and the safety of aquatic products. In response to high-risk environmental input chemical hazards in the aquaculture environment, the team has developed an integrated adsorption-catalytic removal technology to ensure the safety of the aquaculture environment.
