The research team on fish germplasm resources and healthy aquaculture of the School of Marine Sciences, Ningbo University currently consists of 4 professors, 3 associate professors, and 2 lecturers, including Distinguished Young and Middle-aged Academic Leaders at Universities in Zhejiang Province, Training Objects of Teaching Masters in Ningbo University, Sci-tech Experts of Ningbo, Excellent Sci-tech experts of Zhejiang, First-prize Winner of Teaching Achievements in Ningbo University, and Second-prize Winner of Teaching Innovation in Ningbo University, and winner of the Outstanding Contribution Award for Local Service in Ningbo University.
The team mainly undertakes the “863” program of the Ministry of Science and Technology (cultivation of high-quality and stress resistant varieties of larimichthys crocea), the general program under the National Natural Science Foundation of China (analysis of the molecular characteristics and growth promoting function of follistatin genes of larimichthys crocea; research on the mechanism of jellyfish induced olfactory development in silver pomfret and receptor family gene expression; functional analysis of driving protein ot-KIF3A/ot-KIF3B in sperm formation of Octopus tankahkeei), and the youth program, the major Spark Programs under the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China (Development and Demonstration of Key Technologies for Industrialized Breeding of Silver Pomfret; Demonstration of Productive Breeding and Culture & Enhancement Techniques for Plagiognathops Microlepis), planned programs, major Science and Technology Special Programs of Zhejiang Province (Research on Key Technologies for Scaled Breeding of Silver Pomfret), key programs (Research on Industrialized Breeding Techniques of Silver Pomfret), and programs supported by Natural Science Foundation of Zhejiang Province (Research on the Regulatory Mechanism of CHK1 and KSPI Genes in the Reproductive Transformation of Daphnia Carina), Major Technologies R&D Program of Ningbo (Research and Demonstration of Key Technologies in the Early Industrialization of Silver Pomfret in East China Sea), and the Natural Science Foundation program of Ningbo. The research achievements have consecutively won several awards, including the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the first, second, and third prizes of the Zhejiang Science and Technology Award, the second prize of the Central China Agricultural Science and Technology Award, the third prize of Zhejiang Higher Education Research Achievement Award, the first and second prizes of Ningbo Science and Technology Progress Award, and the second and third prizes of Taizhou Science and Technology Progress Award. A large number of important papers have been published in SCI academic journals, such as Aquatic Toxicology, Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety, Ecotoxicology, Plos One, DNA and Cell Biology, Aquaculture Research, Development Genes and Evolution, Fish&Shellfish Immunology, Aquaculture, Acta Hydrobiologica Sinica, Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, Molecular Biology Reports, and Animal Reproduction Science.
